Regardless of whether Michael Block ends up making the cut at Aronimink this week, he sees plenty of action at the PGA Championship remaining in his future.

After an outstanding even-par 70 to open the event Thursday, Block dropped back with a 5-over 75 in Round 2, which will likely cause him to miss the weekend.

Block was one of the 20 PGA club professionals to qualify for the field this week, marking the eighth time that the 49-year-old has accomplished the feat. While many his age would expect their chances of playing in a major championship to dwindle going forward, Block has shown time and again that he's not like most people.

"I have to be honest with you, there's no way on God's green earth this is my last one. No chance," Block told Jason Sobel of Sirius XM. "I will definitely qualify for one more, if not five more."

Block exploded onto the scene during the 2023 PGA Championship at Oak Hill, not only making the cut but turning in a remarkable T-15 finish in the process. He ingratiated himself to the viewing public with highly entertaining walk-and-talk appearances during his rounds and capped the week with an outrageous ace while playing alongside Rory McIlroy on the final day.

That performance launched what seemed like a never-ending Block party, with multiple PGA TOUR events subsequently offering him a sponsor exemption. Between a heavy dose of television and podcast appearances, it seemed like the golf world couldn't get away from Block no matter how hard it tried.

Block maintained a good sense of humor about the sudden celebrity, admitting to Dan Rapaport of Skratch earlier this week that it was a bit much.

"I personally got really sick of Michael Block," he said. "I mean, I don't blame anybody. I didn't wanna see myself or hear myself or watch that hole-in-one again because it just was overplayed."

Considering he's now qualified eight times for the season's second major, he's probably right to assume we'll be seeing him again down the road.
