Tiger, son Charlie commit to PNC Championship

Tiger Woods and his 15-year-old son Charlie will play in the PNC Championship later this month, the 15-time major champion announced, according to NBC Golf.

"I'm very excited to head back to the PNC Championship next week with Charlie," Woods said in a statement. "Playing together is something we look forward to and it's always more special when you're surrounded by friends and family."

It'll mark the fifth time Team Woods has been in the field for the annual parent-child event, a 36-hole scramble. The tournament is scheduled to run Dec. 21-22.

Tiger was unable to play in last week's Hero World Challenge - an event he hosts every year - as he continues recovering from the back surgery he had in September.

Woods said at a press conference during the tournament that he still hopes to compete this coming season but his body doesn't heal like it used to. He hasn't played a competitive round since The Open in July, where he missed the cut.

Tiger only made five appearances last campaign and missed the cut or had to withdraw in four of them. He played the weekend at The Masters in April but finished 60th.
