"Tom played his heart out today," Scheffler told Golf Channel while holding his six-week-old son, Bennett. "He's a great player, great champion, it was fun battling with him today."
Scheffler rebounded from a shaky performance at last week's U.S. Open that saw him finish tied for 41st after narrowly avoiding missing the cut.
The superstar's last victory came earlier in June at the Memorial Tournament, besting Collin Morikawa by one stroke.
Scheffler is now the first player since Tiger Woods in 2009 to record six or more victories in a single season, per PGA TOUR Communications.
He's also the first player since Arnold Palmer in 1962 to win six times before July, according to The Athletic's Justin Ray.
"It's pretty special," Scheffler said. "It's been a great season, I've been fortunate to come away with some wins, and it's been a lot of fun."
