Rory McIlroy, Lexi Thompson, Max Homa, and Rose Zhang will join forces for the first-ever mixed edition of The Match on Feb. 26 under the lights at "The Park" Municipal Golf Course in Florida.
The Match won't be played in two-player teams this time around. Instead, the four players will compete individually in a 12-hole skins game, where each hole will be worth a set amount of money for charity. The competitor who has raised the most money will be declared the winner. If two or more players tie for the best score on a given hole, the money prize will carry over to the next hole.
This will be McIlroy's second appearance at The Match. He partnered up with Tiger Woods in 2022, but the duo lost to Justin Thomas and Jordan Spieth. Homa, meanwhile, has never competed at the event, while Thompson and Zhang will make history as the first women to participate.
McIlroy (No. 2) and Homa (No. 7) are both currently ranked in the top 10 on the Official World Golf Ranking. The former is coming off a victory at last week's Hero Dubai Desert Classic.
A longtime LPGA star, Thompson has 11 wins under her belt, with her latest coming at the ShopRite LPGA Classic in 2019. Zhang, meanwhile, is an up-and-coming talent who won her professional debut on the tour at the Mizuho Americas Open in June.
Thompson also participated at the PGA TOUR's Shriners Children's Open in October, while both she and Zhang played in December's Grant Thornton Invitational, teaming up with Rickie Fowler and Sahith Theegala, respectively.
