Tom Kim didn't waste any time making his push on moving day at the U.S. Open, with the 20-year-old grabbing a piece of history in the opening nine holes Saturday.

Kim absolutely torched that stretch at the Los Angeles Country Club, pouring in six birdies to post a 6-under 29. That tied the lowest nine-hole score in U.S. Open history, with Kim representing the fifth time it's happened.

The two-time winner on the PGA TOUR flew out of the gates with some brilliant approach play, leading to a 4-footer for birdie on No. 1 and another from just over 3 feet on No. 3. Kim had a bit more work to do on No. 4, but he canned an 18-footer for another birdie to hit 3-under on the day.

Kim used an exceptional bunker shot on the short par-4 sixth to set up his fourth birdie of the day, and he two-putted for his fifth on the par-5 eighth after hitting the green in two.

That set the stage for a dramatic conclusion at No. 9, with Kim sticking his tee shot to 5 feet to leave him a straight putt for his 29.

Kim would shoot 2-over on the much more challenging back nine at LACC to finish his day with a 4-under 66.
