Nick Taylor shot a course-record 9-under 63 at the Canadian Open on Saturday.

Taylor broke the previous record of 8-under that England's Tyrrell Hatton matched Friday.

"It's kind of a continuation of yesterday," Taylor said after his round, according to Sportsnet. "I drove it really nice yesterday. Did that again today. Just started making putts. I feel like I've been putting really nice this year. ā€¦ I've got off to great starts the last couple days."

The 35-year-old Canadian finished his day at a sparkling 11-under for the tournament and is three shots back of the lead heading into Sunday's action.

Taylor credited momentum and fundamentals for his record-setting day.

"To be 4-, 5-under the last couple days gets you a lot of momentum going to the back nine where it's very scorable," said Taylor. "So driving it well, keeping it out of the rough as much as I can, and making putts is always a good recipe around here."

Pat Fletcher was the last Canadian to win on home soil, capturing the event in 1954 at Vancouver's Point Grey Golf and Country Club.
