Young, Kim highlight our 2021-22 All-Rookie TOUR team picks

The 2021-22 PGA TOUR season gave us a ton of elite picks for an All-Rookie team. Cameron Young's numerous runner-up finishes gave us incredible insight into the circuit's future, as did Tom Kim's lightning-fast journey from special temporary member status to two-time TOUR winner.

While Kim may be the only one on this list with a TOUR win to date, rest assured there's no shortage of skill in these six golfers that we've picked as our 2021-22 All-Rookie TOUR team.

Young was in the mix so many times in 2022 that it's hard to believe he's only been on TOUR for a year. The 25-year-old was recognized with the Rookie of the Year award after he notched five runner-up finishes during the season. He played in all four majors - finishing second at the Open Championship and tying for third at the PGA Championship.

Young impressed everyone off the tee this year with his elite-level driving abilities. He finished 2022 ranked third overall in driving distance with a 319.3 average and ranked second in strokes gained: off the tee. He had the 13th-longest drive of the season, with the ball traveling 413 yards at The American Express. He also currently sits inside the top 20 in the world at No. 16.

The only 2021-22 TOUR rookie currently ranked better than Young is Kim at No. 15. The 20-year-old became a superstar over the past year and went from lacking TOUR status to two career wins in a matter of months.

Kim received special temporary membership on TOUR after earning enough top finishes during The Open, where he tied for 47th. He made quick use of it and secured his first career victory with the Wyndham Championship a few weeks later. The win automatically granted the Korean golfer full TOUR membership and qualified him for the FedEx Cup Playoffs, where he advanced to the second round. He then became the standout star at the Presidents Cup in September despite being on the losing side. And he has already grabbed his second win since his rookie season with his first tournament of the 2022-23 campaign.

Sahith Theegala

Sahith Theegala was one of just two rookies to advance to the TOUR Championship this season (the other was Young), ultimately finishing 28th in the FedEx Cup standings. Along with Young and Kim, he was also nominated for Rookie of the Year. While Theegala was unable to clinch a rookie-season win like Kim, he did have many impressive results in 2022, like Young.

Theegala broke onto the scene when he went wire-to-wire at the Sanderson Farms but couldn't close out a win. He then held the 36- and 54-hole leads at the Phoenix Open a few months later. Ultimately, he finished the 2021-22 season with one runner-up, one third-place finish, and three more top 10s. He also placed inside the top 100 in five of the TOUR's six strokes gained categories.

Since his rookie campaign, Theegala has already grabbed his first unofficial TOUR win, doing so at the recent QBE Shootout with partner Tom Hoge.

Mito Pereira may have infamously lost the PGA Championship on the 72nd hole, but he did still tie for third - an incredible achievement for any rookie on TOUR. He notched another third-place and one additional top-10 finish in the season.

Pereira made it all the way to the BMW Championship of the FedEx Cup Playoffs and finished the season ranked 50th in the FedEx Cup standings. He also ranked inside the top 10 on TOUR for strokes gained: approach the green and had the 14th best greens in regulation average with 69.60 percent.

Taylor Pendrith

Taylor Pendrith's season was a lot shorter than most rookies' due to a rib injury, but the Canadian golfer still deserves a place on this list. Pendrith had one runner-up and two other top 10s in 2021-22 and went on a nine-tournament streak of making cuts to end the campaign. He even impressed Trevor Immelman so much that he was selected to the International Team for the 2022 Presidents Cup along with fellow rookies Kim and Pereira.

Pendrith's strength, like Young, is off the tee, as the 31-year-old ranked 10th in 2022 on TOUR for driving distance with a 316.1 average and 12th in strokes gained: off the tee. He made it to the second round of the FedEx Cup Playoffs, finishing 47th in the FedEx Cup rankings.

Davis Riley

Davis Riley had a quiet season compared to the rest of this list, but that doesn't mean he was any less successful in his first season on TOUR. The American earned six top-10 results, including one runner-up at the Valspar Championship. He also advanced to the BMW Championship (one of eight rookies to do so) and ended the FedEx Cup season at No. 36. He played in two majors - the PGA Championship and the U.S. Open - finishing in the top 35 at both.

The 26-year-old also ranked inside the top 100 in five of the six strokes gained categories on TOUR for 2022 - driving being his best area - finishing 41st in strokes gained: off the tee. The sky's the limit for Riley and each of the other five 2021-22 TOUR rookies on this list, who you can be sure will all find their own maiden wins in no time.
