Zalatoris set to return at Tournament of Champions in January
Will Zalatoris is expected to make his return from injury in January after committing to the Sentry Tournament of Champions, the TOUR announced Tuesday.
Zalatoris has not played since he was forced to withdraw midway through the BMW Championship in August with a back injury. It was later revealed that the 26-year-old had two herniated disks.
The Wake Forest alum was unable to play in the TOUR Championship or the Presidents Cup. In October, he was announced as a part of the initial field for Tiger Woods' Hero World Challenge, but he ultimately wasn't in the field for the early December event.
A week prior to withdrawing from the BMW, Zalatoris won the FedEx St. Jude Championship. It marked his first TOUR win, a long-overdue feat for the star who had already finished runner-up at three of the four majors in his short career.
Zalatoris gained entry into the Sentry Tournament of Champions as a result of his win in the first round of the FedEx Cup Playoffs. The winners-only event marks the first tournament of 2023 on TOUR. It's set for Jan. 5-8 with a purse of $15 million.
