It was an emotional moment at St. Andrews, one that golf fans will remember for years: Tiger Woods walking across the Swilcan Bridge and up the fairway to the green of the 18th hole, his fate at this year's tournament already certain.
The three-time Open Champion won't see the weekend at the course known as the "home of golf" after posting rounds of 78 and 75.
Woods may be the biggest name to miss the even-par cut at the 150th Open Championship, but he wasn't the only star to have a tough time.
Phil Mickelson, whose only other major appearance this year resulted in a missed cut at the U.S. Open, posted rounds of 72 and 77 this week. The 52-year-old didn't play a professional round of golf between the beginning of February and the end of May before committing to Greg Norman's Saudi-backed LIV Series.
Fellow major champion Brooks Koepka was only a stroke lower than Mickelson, shooting back-to-back rounds over par to finish at 4-over.
Reigning Champion Golfer of the Year Collin Morikawa just narrowly missed the cut at 1-over, ending any hopes of defending his title. Fellow past Open champion Louis Oosthuizen was also among the players to miss the cut at 1-over.
Other notable golfers to miss the cut include Max Homa (1-over), Kevin Na (4-over), Gary Woodland (6-over), Harris English (6-over), and Marc Leishman (6-over).
