Will Zalatoris shot a 3-under 67 on Saturday in difficult conditions at the U.S. Open to hold the early clubhouse lead at 4-under.

"It felt like I shot a 61," the 25-year-old told NBC in a post-round interview.

Matt Fitzpatrick bogeyed the 18th hole to record a 2-under 68, joining Zalatoris as a co-leader at 4-under.

Zalatoris made the cut this week at The Country Club in Brookline, Massachusetts, after rounds of 69 and 70.

"I feel like I belong now. There's a difference in thinking it and feeling it," he said, according to Golf On CBS.

Zalatoris has yet to win on the PGA TOUR in the four years since turning professional, but he's already found great success at major championships.

The Wake Forest University alum has placed second at both the Masters and the PGA Championship in his career, finishing runner-up to Justin Thomas after a playoff in May at Southern Hills.
