Charl Schwartzel had all but locked up the inaugural LIV Golf event title heading into Saturday, and despite a final-round 2-over 72, he was still able to seal the deal.
Hennie Du Plessis finished runner-up, one stroke back at 6-under. Stinger GC won the team title by 14 strokes.
Branden Grace, the third member of Stinger GC alongside Schwartzel and Du Plessis, finished tied for third at 5-under to help his team take the first title.
As a result of winning the individual competition, Schwartzel receives $4 million. For the team event, Stinger GC will split a prize of $3 million among their four players.
Dustin Johnson finished the tournament at 1-under, six strokes back. Phil Mickelson finished at 10-over, 17 strokes back.
Andy Ogletree, who finished 48th in the 48-player field at 24-over, still made $120,000 for his finish on the individual leaderboard.
LIV Golf announced on Friday that Bryson DeChambeau will join the league, and on Saturday, it was confirmed on the broadcast that both Patrick Reed and Pat Perez will be joining as well.
The next LIV Golf event is scheduled for June 30 to July 2 in Portland at Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club.
