After a stunning 1-under 71 in his first competitive round in 508 days, the conditions at Augusta National on Friday offered more of a challenge to Tiger Woods.

Woods stumbled out of the gates with four bogeys in his first five holes - the first time he's had such a start in 92 career rounds at the Masters - before battling back to post a 2-over 74.

Here's the hole-by-hole report on Woods' second round at the season's first major.

First nine

No. 1

Since Louis Oosthuizen withdrew before the round, Woods teed off in a twosome alongside Joaquin Niemann on Friday. In a similar scene to Thursday's first tee shot, Woods hit one up the right side, this time finding a home inside the bunker. His approach spun off to the right of the green with his pitch leaving seven feet for a par save. After making seven par-saving putts in Round 1, Woods was unable to find the cup on his first hole Friday, starting his day with a bogey. Score through 1: +1 (Even overall)

No. 2

More trouble off the tee for Woods, as he found the fairway bunker down the right side for the second straight hole. That forced him into a layup instead of going for the green in two at the reachable par 5. His third left him a swinging left-to-right 26-footer for birdie to get back to even for the day. Woods hit an excellent putt that just snuck by on the high side before tapping in for par. Score through 2: +1 (Even overall)

The blustery winds have definitely arrived at Augusta National as Woods fell victim to a major gust on his approach to the par 4. After his tee shot left 130 yards from the middle of the fairway, Woods' wedge ballooned into the air and came to rest to the right of the green. He was able to execute a very delicate chip to set up another 7-footer for par. Unfortunately, he would leave another one out to the left and settle for his second bogey in the opening three holes. Score through 3: +2 (+1 overall)

No. 4

Another hole, another missed green for Woods. After a flared iron landed short and right of the par 3's putting surface, Woods has now hit just 10-of-22 greens in regulation this week. He was once again unable to save himself with his short game, as his bump-and-run fell down the slope and left him a lengthy par attempt. He failed to make it and heads to the fifth at 3-over through four holes for the first time in 92 career rounds at Augusta. Score through 4: +3 (+2 overall)

No. 5

The swing clearly isn't firing on all cylinders for Woods as he flared one right off the tee into the trees. Unable to go for the green, he was forced to punch one down the fairway, leaving 113 yards to the tricky putting surface. After a comfortable wedge came to rest 11 feet from the hole, Woods burned the edge and carded his fourth bogey in five holes. Score through 5: +4 (+3 overall)

No. 6

One day after nearly making an ace on No. 6, Woods put his best swing of the round on the tee ball. His 8-iron flew toward the flag and landed just short. While it would take the slope and roll back 36 feet from the cup, Woods easily two-putted for a much-needed par. Score through 6: +4 (+3 overall)

No. 7

After the early struggles, the 15-time major winner appears to be getting more comfortable with his swing. A beautiful high fade off the tee found the fairway and a well-struck approach just to the right of the pin left Woods with a 14-footer for birdie. He just missed dropping to 2-over for the day, but another comfortable hole with the reachable par-5 eighth ahead is a good sign for Woods. Score through 7: +4 (+3 overall)

No. 8

Another solid drive by Woods up the left side gave him a shot to reach the green in two on the par 5. A hard draw with his 3-wood saw the ball travel just short of the green to set up a great chance at getting down with a birdie. Woods took advantage with a delicate pitch to within a foot - much to the delight of the patrons surrounding the putting surface. A tap-in birdie got him back to 3-over on the round with some momentum heading to No. 9. Score through 8: +3 (+2 overall)

No. 9

Woods clearly found something heading to the seventh tee, as he absolutely smashed his third straight driver of the round on No. 9. A hard draw around the corner left him with just a pitching wedge to the back pin, but the downhill lie caused him some issues, and the approach was just right of the green. A downhill chip left him a ticklish putt for par, but he was able to pour it in the center to post a 3-over 39 on the front nine. Score through 9: +3 (+2 overall)

Second nine

No. 10

A fourth straight booming tee ball gave Tiger another opportunity to score, and the five-time champion did just that on No. 10. A perfectly-struck iron from 208 yards settled just two feet from the hole, one of the best shots of the day on the challenging par 4. Woods calmly brushed that in for his second birdie of Round 2. Score through 10: +2 (+1 overall)

No. 11

For the first time in five holes, Woods couldn't hit the fairway off the tee. His ball came to rest in the pine straw down the right side, but he was able to carve a brilliant 3-iron around the trees to come just short of the green in two. Unfortunately, a poor chip past the hole left him with a tricky 10-foot slider for par. He was unable to save his four and headed to No. 12 back at 3-over for his round. Score through 11: +3 (+2 overall)

No. 12

More trouble at Amen Corner for Woods, as his tee shot at the tricky par 3 found the back bunker. A deft touch was required on the downhill bunker shot, and Woods' ball stopped on the fringe to leave just over 12 feet for par. His effort burned the edge and the bogey dropped him back to 4-over for the day, the same spot where he sat after the opening five holes. Score through 12: +4 (+3 overall)

No. 13

The hole at Augusta National that players identify as the one to take advantage of is No. 13. The reachable par 5 offers a number of ways to score and bring some momentum into the closing stretch. Woods did exactly that to rebound from his back-to-back bogeys. After a solid drive and second shot left him just short of the creek surrounding the green, he skipped a pitch up the hill to within a couple feet and tapped in for his third birdie in the last six holes. Score through 13: +3 (+2 overall)

No. 14

Another booming drive by Woods gave him an excellent chance for birdie. The approach was vintage Tiger, as he hit a towering iron that spun down the slope to nine feet. The putt was never in doubt as it poured in the center for his second straight birdie. Score through 14: +2 (+1 overall)

No. 15

Woods kept the momentum going from back-to-back birdies with another solid drive on the par-5 15th. That left him slightly over 260 yards to the green, and he covered the distance with ease to end up just off the back of the green. His chip could've been better as it raced past the hole, leaving him an uphill 20-footer for birdie. The ensuing putt slid just a bit too far for a tap-in par, his first of the second nine. Score through 15: +2 (+1 overall)

No. 16

With six birdies in his last 11 trips to the 16th hole, the final par 3 at Augusta has been very kind to Woods over his career. Another brilliant iron set up a very good look, making that seven birdies in the last 12 trips, but Woods burned the edge with the effort to settle for par. Score through 16: +2 (+1 overall)

No. 17

Woods continued to distance himself from his struggles on the opening five-hole stretch, as another solid drive gave him the green light for his approach to the par 4. His iron got caught up in the wind and ended up on the fringe to the right, but a comfortable two-putt sent him to the last at 2-over for the day. Score through 17: +2 (+1 overall)

No. 18

The final drive of the day was indicative of how he played from the sixth hole forward, as Woods once again split the fairway with a high fade. He overcooked his iron to the back of the green, leaving a very tricky two-putt from over 60 feet. After curling a great lag putt to within 5 feet, Woods would pour in the par to finish with a 2-over 74. Score through 18: +2 (+1 overall)
