Jon Rahm has addressed the golfing world after being forced to withdraw from the Memorial Tournament due to a positive COVID-19 test while holding a six-shot lead heading into the final round.
Rahm, who reached 18-under par to break the 54-hole tournament record, was informed of the test immediately after walking off the 18th hole Saturday.
He expressed his disappointment in a statement on Twitter later in the evening.

The defending champion at the Memorial will now miss a chance for his sixth PGA TOUR win and the winner's check of over $1.67 million. In accordance with TOUR protocols, he'll go into isolation for the next 10 days until June 15 - the Tuesday of U.S. Open week at Torrey Pines.
With Rahm out of the picture, the tournament's co-leaders are now Collin Morikawa and Patrick Cantlay at 12-under-par. Both have previously won a tournament at Muirfield Village, including Morikawa's triumph at the Workday Charity Open last season.
