Matthew Wolff was disqualified from the Masters for signing an incorrect scorecard following the second round, the tournament announced Friday.
The 23rd-ranked player in the world would have missed the cut anyway after rounds of 76 and 79, but he saw his journey end differently after signing for a score on No. 17 that tournament headquarters deemed lower than the official number.
It's the latest setback for Wolff in what's been a difficult 2021 season on the PGA TOUR. The 21-year-old has withdrawn from two of his last six events and hasn't posted a top-20 finish since back-to-back 2nd-place showings at the U.S. Open and Shriners Hospitals for Children Open last year.
