Scottie Scheffler defeated Jon Rahm - the remaining top seed at the WGC-Match Play - with an impressive 3-and-1 victory to advance to Sunday's semifinals.
Scheffler won three of the first five holes in his quarterfinal tilt to create a cushion over Rahm, and it proved to be too large to overcome for the Spaniard.
Matt Kuchar awaits Scheffler in the semifinal after beating Brian Harman 2-and-1. Kuchar recorded his 33rd win at the WGC-Match Play and now sits three victories shy of Tiger Woods' tournament record.
On the other side of the bracket, Frenchman Victor Perez upset Sergio Garica with a convincing 4-and-3 match win. Perez, ranked 33rd in the world, lost the first hole but quickly turned it around by winning Nos. 2 and 3 and then never looked back.
Billy Horschel takes on Perez in the other semifinal. Horschel never led in his quarterfinal match versus Tommy Fleetwood, but he managed to force a playoff with the Englishman after winning holes Nos. 12 and 17. Fleetwood hit his opening drive out of bounds on the first extra hole to allow Horschel to make a routine par on the par-5 12th and punch his ticket to the semis.
