Reed, Ortiz share 54-hole at Farmers Insurance Open

Patrick Reed and Carlos Ortiz will sleep on a two-shot lead at the Farmers Insurance after posting rounds of 70 and 66, respectively, on Saturday.

Reed got off to a blazing start on moving day, making the turn at 5-under to hold a four-stroke lead midway through his round. However, after a rules controversy on No. 10, Reed played his closing nine holes at 3-over par to drop to 10-under for the week.

Ortiz carded the lowest score of the day with a seven-birdie, one-bogey performance. He vaulted up 20 spots on the leaderboard to get into Sunday's final group.

Viktor Hovland, who led after 36 holes, shot 1-over to fall two shots off the lead.

Rory McIlroy shot 70 to move within three of the leaders and share eighth ahead of the final round. Tony Finau, who was one back going into Saturday, carded 1-over to drop into a tie for 12th.

Round 4 begins at 11:10 a.m. ET on Sunday.
