Late eagle gives DeChambeau clubhouse lead midway through Day 2
Bryson DeChambeau made eagle on his final hole Friday to post his second straight under-par round at Winged Foot and give him the clubhouse lead midway through Round 2.
The 27-year-old hit his final drive 380 yards and left himself with a pitching wedge in hand for his approach shot into the par 5. He stuck his second shot to 6 feet and made the putt to fire 68 in much tougher conditions than Thursday's first round.
DeChambeau is the only player so far to shoot two rounds in the 60s. He currently leads Rafa Cabrera Bello by one with half of the field still in the process of completing their second rounds.
Bubba Watson was the only other player to break 70 in the morning wave of Day 2, shooting 69.
The second-round scoring average so far is nearly 5-over, according to Data Golf, which is almost three shots more than Round 1.
