Brooks Koepka has withdrawn from next week's U.S. Open due to injury, the two-time champion announced on Wednesday.

Koepka hasn't played since pulling out of the Northern Trust at the beginning of the FedEx Cup Playoffs in August.

Koepka was playing through a hip injury before withdrawing from the Northern Trust. After missing the cut at the Wyndham Championship in early August, the 30-year-old confirmed his hip was ailing.

After ending 2019 as the world's top-ranked player, Koepka has now fallen to No. 8 after enduring a rough, injury-plagued shortened season. In 13 tournaments, he had just two top 10 finishes and no wins.

Koepka has won the U.S. Open twice before in 2017 and 2018.
