Woods in Northern Trust field to start playoffs
Tiger Woods announced Friday that he'll participate in next week's Northern Trust at TPC Boston to kick off the FedEx Cup Playoffs.
Woods currently sits 47th in the FedEx Cup standings despite only playing in five tournaments this season.
After withdrawing from the Northern Trust during the first round last year, Woods will look to continue his pursuit of a record-setting third FedEx Cup victory. He also won in 2007 and 2009.
Woods has won at TPC Boston once before in 2006, and he's also logged two runner-up finishes and a third-place result at the course.
Following the Northern Trust, the top 70 in the FedEx Cup rankings will be eligible to participate in the BMW Championship. The top 30 after play at Olympia Fields will make it to the Tour Championship in September.
Woods has played in just two tournaments since the season restarted, finishing T-40 at the Memorial Tournament and T-37 at the PGA Championship.
