Tiger ends PGA Championship on positive note

Tiger Woods ended the week on a positive note after posting a final-round 67 to finish his PGA Championship at 1-under par.

Woods was well out of contention going into Sunday but showed some fight with three birdies in his opening seven holes at TPC Harding Park. He played the remainder of the round at even with a bogey on his final hole.

He had his best day of driving on Sunday but was let down with his approach play. However, Tiger did gain strokes in every category on the final day for the second time this week. The 15-time major winner sat just outside the top 40 when his round ended.

While he won't be walking away with the trophy, Woods will leave San Francisco feeling healthy, which he'll need for the FedEx Cup playoffs.

"(My body) held up pretty good this week, all things considered, with it being as chilly as it is," Tiger said in his post-round interview. "My warmups were good and my body responded pretty well all week - stayed pretty loose."

He added: "It will be nice when it is warmer."

The PGA Tour is in North Carolina next week for the Wyndham Championship, which Tiger is likely skipping. He did hint he will be returning for The Northern Trust at TPC Boston in two weeks, though.

"I'm looking forward to a week off and getting back at it."
