Bryson DeChambeau continues to catch the attention of his peers, with Tony Finau the latest to admit he's now chasing distance after witnessing DeChambeau's successful power transformation.
"It no doubt inspired me," Finau said Thursday, according to Golf Channel's Rex Hoggard. "I don't think what he's doing is rocket science, but it's executing at that speed. Being able to see him swing that fast and hit it that straight got me thinking a little bit.
"I tried it out there on a couple of drives and was able to execute, so I think I'm going to start putting them into my game."
The 30-year-old shot 66 in Round 1 of the Memorial Tournament on Thursday and leads the field thanks to a fantastic performance driving the ball. He hit six drives over 340 yards and sits second in strokes gained: off the tee, behind none other than DeChambeau.
Finau shared a video on Instagram last week in which he achieved a ridiculous ball speed of 206 mph. Cameron Champ led the Tour in ball speed last season at 190 mph.
