Tiger, McIlroy, Koepka headline featured groups at Memorial
The PGA Tour announced its featured groups for the Memorial Tournament this week, and golf fans are in for a treat.
Tee times for each group have yet to be released.
Group 1: Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy, Brooks Koepka
Woods makes his highly anticipated return Thursday still in search of a record-setting 83rd Tour victory. He hasn't started since the Genesis Invitational in February but has won this event five times over his career.
McIlroy hasn't been in action since June 28 at the Travelers Championship, while Koepka is coming off a missed cut at the Workday Charity Open this past week.
Group 2: Phil Mickelson, Justin Rose, Shane Lowry
This group features a trio of veterans who draw plenty of attention every time they're in the mix.
Group 3: Bryson DeChambeau, Collin Morikawa, Patrick Cantlay
Here, we have the two most recent winners on Tour in DeChambeau and Morikawa as well as the defending Memorial champion in Cantlay. DeChambeau will once again be a talking point as he looks to dominate with his absurd distance off the tee, while Morikawa sets out to continue his ascent coming off the second victory of his young career.
Group 4: Justin Thomas, Xander Schauffele, Dustin Johnson
Thomas is currently No. 1 in the FedEx Cup standings and will look to shake off Sunday's runner-up result. Schauffele has consistently been in the running since the Tour returned from its pause, and Johnson is a threat to win whenever he's in the field.
