An upcoming two-part HBO docuseries chronicling Tiger Woods' rise, fall, and comeback will air Dec. 13 and 20, according to a press release obtained by Golf Digest's Christopher Powers.

"Since his introduction to the world at the age of two, Tiger Woods has inhabited our collective consciousness as a prodigy, a pioneer, a champion, a global icon, and then a tabloid headline," said directors Matthew Heineman and Matthew Hamachek.

"After months of research and countless hours of revelatory conversations, we discovered that he has always been a projection of outsized expectations," Heineman and Hamachek continued. "His father, his sponsors, and his fans all made Tiger Woods into whom they wanted him to be. Our goal was to dive deeper and create an unflinching and intimate portrait of a man who, like all of us, is imperfect and inherently human."

The series is built around never-before-seen footage, according to HBO, and interviews with those who know Tiger. The list includes his former caddie, Steve Williams, six-time major winner and CBS golf analyst Nick Faldo, Dina Parr, who's described as Woods' first true love, and Rachel Uchitel, one of the women involved in Woods' cheating scandal.

News of the docuseries was first revealed in May by Arthur Keteyian, co-author of the New York Times best-seller "Tiger Woods," which was released in March 2018.

Woods hasn't played an event since the PGA Tour's hiatus, but the 44-year-old announced Thursday his commitment to next week's Memorial Tournament at Muirfield Village.
