Brooks Koepka has simultaneously emerged as one of the world's best players and potentially the most compelling character on Tour thanks to his colorful press conferences.
Thursday was no different following his opening-round 67 at the RBC Heritage, as the world No. 4 sounded off about putting microphones on players.
"I don't understand why they want us to wear a mic when there's a boom mic that stands 10 feet away from every shot that I hit." Koepka said, according to Dylan Dethier of Golf.com. "If the announcers would just shut up and listen, you could hear every word we're talking about. I don't understand what the thing is."
The Tour asked a number of players to wear microphones last week at the Charles Schwab Classic, but Rickie Fowler was the only one who agreed. Top professionals like Justin Thomas have been firmly against the practice, also referencing the fact that television microphones already pick up the majority of conversations.
