Adam Scott is going to take a wait-and-see approach before returning to the PGA Tour this summer, citing concerns about the circuit's testing procedures as the reason for his holdout.

"They are being fairly thorough, but my initial reaction was I was surprised (the plan) wasn't tighter than it is," Scott said, according to the Australian Associated Press' Evin Priest.

"What concerns me is a dialogue that (the Tour) is hopeful of returning one or two-hour test (results). You'd want that in place before competing."

It's not only fellow pros Scott is worried about. There are hundreds of other support staff required to run an event that will not undergo the same level of testing as players and caddies.

"The other (concern) is it seems an asymptomatic person could operate within a tournament. If they're not showing symptoms and I somehow picked it up inside the course and I'm disqualified, I'm now self-isolating (in that city) for two weeks. I'd be annoyed if that happened."

The world No. 6 plans to make the long trip from Australia to the United States late in July for the WGC-FedEx St. Jude, the week before the PGA Championship. He will miss the first seven events on the Tour's restart schedule if he follows through.

"I'm definitely going to sit out and see how the first few weeks of the PGA Tour pan out and if things are progressing well, playing Memphis the week before the PGA is a thought," Scott said.

He would then stay in America until September's U.S. Open, which would make for a nine-week trip.

Lee Westwood and Tommy Fleetwood - two other top-40 players living outside of the United States - also said they plan to skip the first few PGA Tour events because of the 14-day self-quarantine mandate after traveling.
