Golf headcover company halts operations to make medical masks

Seamus Golf, an accessory company known for its handmade headcovers, has halted its regular operations to instead produce medical masks for doctors, nurses, and first responders amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

"We thought there would be a lot of people needing them," Seamus Golf CEO Akbar Chisti said, according to Golf Channel's Samantha Marks. "But once we got the responses and the thoughts put into the emails, we basically had an emotional night where we didn’t sleep, and then we woke up and all of a sudden we went from making headcovers to doing something that really prevents the spread of this terrible thing.”

Chisti's team is aiming to produce 200 packages containing 10 masks each within the next week and will send them to medical personnel free of charge.

Meanwhile, the company's website is temporarily closed to prevent regular orders from customers.

Matt Kuchar is a known user of Seamus Golf headcovers. The Oregon-based company also crafted the gifts that Tiger Woods gave to members of the United States Presidents Cup team - Australian themed boomerangs.
