The Official World Golf Ranking announced it will pause the men's and women's rankings until further notice with professional golf worldwide on break due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Rory McIlroy will hold the No. 1 spot until the PGA Tour returns, and Jin Young Ko will remain on top for the LPGA

The pause is required because both ranking systems use an algorithm that weighs results over a two-year span, and those outcomes depreciate in value over time. Therefore, golfers could theoretically rise and fall in the rankings while not playing with all golf temporarily halted.

Additionally, the International Golf Federation announced the cutoff dates for Olympic qualifying, if the 2020 Tokyo games are eventually played. The qualification deadline is June 22 for men and June 29 for women.
