Harris English and Tom Lewis share the first-round lead at The Honda Classic after shooting 4-under 66s on Thursday.

The 30-year-old English posted his 66 in the afternoon, while Lewis took on the difficult PGA National in the morning when winds tormented the field.

The first-round scoring average was nearly two strokes over par, according to Data Golf, and the biggest names competing in the event were part of the reason why.

World No. 3 Brooks Koepka posted a 4-over 74 that consisted of a double- and triple-bogey. He also made a sloppy bogey on the par-5 18th, the second-easiest hole on the course.

Rickie Fowler, the 2017 Honda Classic winner, also struggled Thursday. He shot 76 with seven bogeys and one birdie. The 31-year-old sits in a tie for 132nd.

Here's how the top of the leaderboard stands after Round 1:

Place Player To Par R1 Score
T1 Tom Lewis -4 66
T1 Harris English -4 66
T3 Zach Johnson -3 67
T3 Cameron Tringale -3 67
T3 J.T. Poston -3 67
T3 Lee Westwood -3 67
T3 Brian Stuard -3 67
T8 Wyndham Clark -2 68
T8 Brendan Steele -2 68
T8 Doc Redman -2 68

Tommy Fleetwood and Gary Woodland both shot even par. Fleetwood entered the week as the betting favorite to win The Honda Classic, which would mark his first PGA Tour victory.

Notables Justin Rose (2-over), Billy Horschel (3-over), Louis Oosthuizen (4-over), and Viktor Hovland (7-over) all got off to slow starts.
