Americans trail Internationals by 2 ahead of final day at Presidents Cup

The Americans had their best session of the Presidents Cup Saturday afternoon, cutting into the Internationals' lead by winning the foursomes session by a score of 3-1. Despite that strong performance, Ernie Els' team will still take a 10-8 edge into Sunday's 12 singles matches.

The marathon day at Royal Melbourne looked to be heading toward an American sweep halfway through the events' fourth session. However, a late run by the Internationals salvaged the day to remain in the lead where they've been since Day 1.

Justin Thomas and Rickie Fowler held a 5-up advantage after 10 holes in their match versus Marc Leishman and Abraham Ancer, but were shockingly unable to hang on to their commanding lead. The Internationals won five of the last eight holes to earn a much-needed half point and energize the raucous crowd.

"I think I'm speechless. It's unacceptable for us to get a half (of) a point," Thomas said, according to Golf Channel's Jay Coffin.
