The golf world didn't take kindly to Patrick Reed's antics in the waste area at the Hero World Challenge on Friday. Its feelings were made known with a number of sarcastic and shovel-related tweets.

If you missed it, Reed, who was leading the 18-man field in the Bahamas at the time of the incident, was caught on camera sweeping sand from behind his ball after receiving an ugly lie in the waste area. The excessive sand movement was determined to improve his line of play and resulted in a two-shot penalty.

This is far from Reed's first time being the center of controversy in golf, and for some, it's a role everyone should embrace.

Commence the digging jokes!

Imagining Reed pleading his case to the rules official is also a fun exercise.

In the midst of all the shovel jokes, a video of Reed resurfaced from the 2015 Hero World Challenge, showing what appears to be a very similar sweep of the sand.
