Tyler Duncan torched the Seaside Course at the Sea Island Golf Club with a 9-under 61 to grab a two-shot lead at the RSM Classic.
The former Purdue Boilermaker turned in a bogey-free performance Friday, highlighted by a slam-dunk eagle on No. 8. He shot 67 in Round 1 on the Plantation Course to sit at 14-under par through 36 holes.

The 30-year-old Duncan leads Sebastian Munoz, Rhein Gibson, and D.J. Trahan by two shots. Trahan tied the Plantation Course's record with a 9-under 63 on Day 2.

Brendon Todd is well within reach of claiming a third straight PGA Tour victory. He fired 66 on Friday to sit four shots back of Duncan in a tie for seventh.
First-round leader Webb Simpson fell off the pace with a 2-under 68 at the Seaside Course. He slipped into a tie for 11th at 9-under.
Notables Matt Kuchar and Billy Horschel both missed the 4-under cut by three shots. Defending champion Charles Howell III (2-under) and 2015 RSM Classic champion Kevin Kisner (2-under) also failed to advance to the weekend.
The final two rounds of the RSM Classic will be contested on the Seaside Course. A total of 76 players made the cut.
