The first round of the Mayakoba Golf Classic has been postponed until Friday due to heavy rain and the likelihood of further storms, the PGA Tour announced Thursday.
Storms rolled into the Playa del Carmen, Mexico, area early Thursday morning, soaking the course and suspending play numerous times throughout the day.
Round 1 will now begin Friday at 7 a.m. ET. Whether or not the tournament will be shortened to 54 holes has yet to be determined.
