Reed: Being selected by captain Woods would 'mean the world to me'

Patrick Reed would love to be selected by Tiger Woods with one of his four captain's picks to complete the United States' Presidents Cup team.

"It would mean the world to me," Reed said before teeing off at the Turkish Airlines Open. "Any time I get to wear red, white, and blue to represent our country means a lot."

Inconsistent play during the 2018-19 season from "Captain American," who boasts an 11-6-4 record in both Ryder Cup and Presidents Cup play, put him 12th for qualifying points and in need of a selection from Tiger. However, he finished his campaign with a win in the FedEx Cup playoffs and feels like he's done everything possible to impress the captain.

"The biggest thing for me is I did what I had to do. I went out and I finished the year off right. I feel like I played some really solid golf towards the end and now it all just depends on who captain Woods feels like should be on the team," Reed continued.

"At the end of the day, I feel like he's going to pick the four guys (who are) going to be best for the team and best for that golf course to hopefully bring home the cup."

Assuming Tiger selects himself after recently collecting PGA Tour title No. 82 in Japan, Reed will have to contend with U.S. Open champion Gary Woodland, Tony Finau, Rickie Fowler, Kevin Kisner, and Kevin Na for the remaining three spots.

Woods will make his picks Thursday at 7:00 p.m. ET.
