Much of the attention at this week's Safeway Open has been directed at Tony Romo, as the former Dallas Cowboys quarterback was in the field as a sponsor's exemption and sizzled early on with an opening-round 70.
Romo's second round on Friday didn't go so well, though, as he put together a 78 and missed the cut. One of his biggest blunders of the day came when he hit a shot into the group ahead of him.
He laced a 278-yard 3-wood from the fairway on the par-5 16th, and his ball rolled within a couple of feet of Kristoffer Ventura, who was cleaning up for par. After Ventura tapped in, a video of him appearing to spit on Romo's ball began making the rounds on social media.

However, the PGA Tour rookie took to Twitter to clarify he was only checking to see if he left any spike marks in Romo's line.
I definitely did not spit here. I moved my head to see if I had left any spike marks because I knew I was close to his line, hate to disappoint you guys

Ventura shot a 2-under 70 on Friday and sits well off the lead at 3-under for the tournament after three rounds.
