Tiger Woods underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left knee to repair minor cartilage damage, he announced in a statement on Tuesday.

The 43-year-old had the procedure last week.

"I would like to thank Dr. (Vern) Cooley and his team," Woods said. "I'm walking now and hope to resume practice in the next few weeks. I look forward to traveling and playing in Japan in October."

"I expect Tiger to make a full recovery," said Dr. Cooley, who performed the surgery. "We did what was needed, and also examined the entire knee. There were no additional problems."

This is the fifth surgery on Tiger's left knee, according to PGA.com. In 2007, Woods tore the ACL in his left knee but played through it for nearly a year. He won the 2008 U.S. Open with a torn ACL and two stress fractures on his left tibia and underwent surgery to repair the damage shortly after.

Woods battled a variety of neck-related issues throughout the 2018-19 season and was forced to withdraw from The Northern Trust with an oblique injury - his second last event of the year.
