Tiger survives 'crap start' to shoot even-par Round 3 at Pebble Beach

Tiger Woods failed to make up any ground on moving day, shooting an even-par 71 at the U.S. Open on Saturday.

But given his rough start to the day, Woods was content with his effort.

"Well I got off to a crap start," he said after his round. "I was 2-over through three and those are supposed to be the easier holes. I had to fight back the entire day and was able to claw out a round of even par, which is pretty good."

After Tiger recorded 15 pars on Friday, his third round was a little more adventurous. He carded five birdies and five bogeys while hitting 10-of-14 fairways at Pebble Beach.

Woods also had medical tape on the back of his neck, but the 43-year-old downplayed any talk of injury.

"When it's cold like this, everything is achy. It's just part of the deal," he said, according to Golf.com's Dylan Dethier. "It's been like that for years. The forces have to go somewhere. And if they're not in the lower back, they're in the neck, and if not there, they're in the mid-back, and if not there, they go to the knee. You name it."

Tiger finished his third round in a tie for 27th, 10 shots behind leader Gary Woodland.
