The story of Tiger Woods is coming to television, as author Jeff Benedict has agreed to turn his book, "Tiger Woods," into a scripted miniseries, Wheelhouse Entertainment announced Tuesday.

The book was published last year and became a New York Times bestseller.

"As a rabid sports fan, I had seen Jeff's byline and read much of his work, always impressed by his insights and access into some pretty rarefied worlds," Wheelhouse Entertainment CEO Brent Montgomery said. "But when I picked up 'Tiger Woods,' I saw what a true force Jeff really is – and a compelling way to bring the Tiger Woods story to life as one of the most moving in sports history."

Benedict and co-author Armen Keteyian covered Tiger's story beginning with the 2009 car accident and everything that unfolded afterward. They interviewed over 250 people for the book.

Under his deal with Wheelhouse Entertainment, Benedict's intellectual property will be the basis for developing a range of scripted and unscripted film and television projects. No other information regarding release dates was announced.

Benedict is currently writing a biography of LeBron James, according to Golf Digest's John Strege.
