The Round of 16 at the WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play will tee off Saturday, but it won't include some of the world's finest golfers.
Dustin Johnson, Bubba Watson, Phil Mickelson, Jason Day, Jordan Spieth, Justin Thomas, and Brooks Koepka highlight the 48 competitors who won't be featured on the greens this weekend.
Watson, who won last year's event, finished the round robin at the bottom of his group with losses to Billy Horschel and group winner Kevin Na. The 40-year-old won't appear in the Round of 16 for the first time since 2016.
Johnson, the Match Play's No. 1 seed for the third consecutive year, fell to Branden Grace on the 18th hole Thursday. Grace's victory over Chez Reavie on Friday officially eliminated Johnson from contention.
Mickelson faced off Thursday against fellow 48-year-old Jim Furyk, who rode the momentum from his surprise victory over Day on Wednesday to defeat Mickelson and eliminate him from the tournament.
Justin Rose (2), Rory McIlroy (4), Francesco Molinari (7), Paul Casey (10), and Tiger Woods (13) are the event's only top-15 seeds to advance.
