Before the golf festivities have even begun in Las Vegas, Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson are already deep into the side action of The Match.

A bet of $200,000 is on the table for Mickelson to birdie the first hole, and Lefty believes he tempted Tiger into making it.

"I feel like the first hole is a great hole for me," Mickelson said Tuesday during their press conference in Las Vegas. "I'm willing to risk $100,000 that says I birdie the first hole."

Mickelson placed Tiger on the spot with the vote of personal confidence and egged him on by saying, "You don't have to take it."

"Double it," Tiger responded, after taking a moment to process what was at stake.

With a grin, Mickelson turned to the audience and said: "You see how I baited him like that. Yes!"

The $200,000 bet on the first hole is only a sign of what's to come Friday at Shadow Creek Golf Course, as Mickelson alluded to potentially millions of dollars in side bets between the two.

"We're going to be having multiple side challenges that are going to be in the six to seven figures that will be coming out of our own pockets," Mickelson added.

The high-stakes pay-per-view match begins at 3:00 p.m. ET on Nov. 23.
