Charles Howell III continues to sit atop the leaderboard at the RSM Classic, shooting a 2-under 68 on Saturday to hold a one-shot edge at the conclusion of Round 3.
After opening the event with back-to-back rounds of 64 to hold a three-shot lead, Howell showed signs of slowing down in Day 3, carding his first three bogeys of the week.
Howell is looking to hold on and go wire-to-wire for his first PGA Tour win since 2007.
Sitting one shot behind Howell are Cameron Champ and Jason Gore, who both shot 66 in Round 3.
The 44-year-old Gore received a late sponsors exemption into the event, admitting he had retired from the Tour and is selling insurance as a full-time gig.
Champ, on the other hand, has a chance to become only the second player to collect two wins in 10 or fewer PGA Tour starts as a pro, according to Justin Ray of Golf Channel. Tiger Woods is the other player to achieve this feat.
Webb Simpson made a major run on moving day, firing a 7-under 63 to climb into a tie for fourth. Luke List and Kevin Kisner also carded rounds of 63.
The round of the day belonged to Patrick Rodgers who shot 9-under and moved from outside the top 60 into a tie for seventh.
