PGA picks: Simpson to continue dominance at Wyndham Championship

After an amazing PGA Championship at Bellerive, getting back on the horse for another Tour event can be difficult. However, there is a ton at stake for this week's Wyndham Championship as it's the last event before the FedEx Cup Playoffs.

The Wyndham is hosted at Sedgefield County Club in Greensboro, N.C., a 7,127-yard par-70 track designed by the legendary Donald Ross. It's a ball-strikers paradise that will allow golfers who find fairways to consistently attack pins.

With the majority of the field still fighting for a chance to play in the postseason, here are the picks for this week:

Favorite to watch (odds shorter than 20-1)

Webb Simpson

Simpson loves playing the Wyndham and it shows with his ridiculous course history. In his last eight appearances, he's had five top-10 finishes, including a win in 2011. The 33-year-old is having his best season in a long time and a win this week would be a perfect compliment to his Players Championship victory from May.

Odds to win: 12-1
Top-5 odds: 5-2

Second tier (odds 20-1 or longer)

Joaquin Niemann

Now that he qualifies for PGA Tour stats, Niemann's rookie season is even more impressive. He's fifth in strokes gained: approach-the-green and 12th off the tee, which makes sense given four of his 11 starts have resulted in top-10 finishes. His first win on the PGA Tour is coming soon, and the weaker field at Wyndham is a perfect spot.

Odds to win: 30-1
Top-5 odds: 13-2

Long shot (odds 50-1 or longer)

Julian Suri

Somewhat of an unknown, Julian Suri took the Brooks Koepka route to the PGA Tour. During his time on the European Tour, the 27-year-old American won once overseas and jumped to 60th in the world golf rankings. He gained the third most strokes through approach shots to finish tied for 19th at last week's PGA Championship. The former Duke Blue Devil will feel right at home in North Carolina.

Odds to win: 60-1
Top-5 odds: 10-1

Super long shot (odds 80-1 or longer)

Richy Werenski

It's slim pickings this week further down on the board, but Richy Werenski proved himself at the Barbasol Championship in July. He finished second at the event and gained over eight strokes through approach shots alone.

Odds to win: 100-1
Top-5 odds: 16-1

Hit this bet, buy a car (odds 125-1 or longer)

Corey Conners

Talk about a longshot. Conners is struggling as of late, however, he showed numerous times this season that he has the tools to contend on Tour. He ranks 52nd in strokes gained: tee-to-green ahead of players like Phil Mickelson and Kevin Na - both winners this year. If Conners can be average at putting this week, 200-1 is definitely worth the flier.

Odds to win: 200-1
Top-5 odds: 33-1
