Tiger Woods carded a 4-under 66 in Round 1 of the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational Thursday, his best opening round of the season.
The eight-time winner at Firestone Country Club grinded his way to a 66 after hitting 50 percent of the fairways and 13 of 18 greens in regulation. What saved Tiger's round was his putter, needing just 22 putts on the day.
Tiger carded three birdies on the front nine, highlighted by this monstrous 50-foot birdie putt on No. 18 to make the turn at 3-under.

Woods was bogey-free until his last hole after an errant tee shot forced him to punch out. He subsequently missed a mid-range par putt.
Tiger finished his round in a tie for eighth, three shots behind clubhouse leader Kyle Stanley.
