J.J. Spaun and Andrew Landry both fired 7-under 63s on Thursday at the Quicken Loans National to hold a one-shot lead heading into Round 2.
Landry hit 15 of 18 greens in regulation and made seven birdies en route to his bogey-free round Thursday morning at TPC Potomac.
The 30-year-old Texan's hot start opens the door for a potential second win on the PGA Tour this season. Landry won the Valero Texas Open by two shots in April.
Spaun also recorded seven birdies during his bogey-free round and sits first in strokes gained: off the tee after 18 holes.
Spaun and Landry were also part of a five-way tie for the lead after Round 1 of the 2017 Sanderson Farms Championship.
Billy Horschel and Andrew Putnam sit one shot off the pace after their 64s in Round 1.
Notables Tiger Woods and Rickie Fowler are in a tie for 48th after shooting even-par 70s.
