Up-and-down Round 2 has Tiger projected to miss U.S. Open cut

Tiger Woods carded a 2-over 72 in a roller-coaster day at the U.S. Open, finishing Friday's Round 2 at 10-over for the tournament.

After an opening-round 78, Tiger's uphill battle to make the cut started off great, as he birdied his first hole due to a tidy approach shot.

Woods' first nine consisted of another birdie on the par-5 16th and two bogeys to make the turn at even par.

Next, he made his way to No. 1, the same hole he opened Thursday's round with by shooting a triple-bogey.

The three-time U.S. Open champ found the fairway off the tee, but a horrible approach shot left him in thick rough left of the green. Tiger went on to make double-bogey.

He also bogeyed No. 2, playing the first two holes on the front nine at 7-over par across the two days.

However, Woods did show some fight late in the day, finishing birdie-birdie before heading to the clubhouse at 10-over.

Tiger hit 11 of 14 fairways Friday and surprisingly was let down by his iron play.

With the projected cut at 9-over, according to DataGolf, Woods sits on the outside looking in.

Time to fire up the yacht.
