LPGA Tour pro Brittany Lincicome will be playing in the PGA Tour's Barbasol Championship after receiving a sponsor's exemption from organizers of the event.
The 32-year-old Lincicome confirmed the news after her second round of the U.S. Women's Open.
“I think we'll go into it having fun and try not to put too much pressure on myself,” said Lincicome. “Obviously it's a whole different ballgame. I'm not trying to compete with the guys or prove anything. I've always thought it would be cool to go try.”
Her appearance at the Barbasol Championship will make her the sixth woman to participate in a PGA Tour event after Michelle Wie, Annika Sorenstam, Babe Zaharias, Suzy Whaley, and Shirley Spork.
Lincicome, who ranks 32nd in the Women's World Golf Rankings, is an eight-time winner on the LPGA circuit, including two major titles and back-to-back Pure Silk-Bahamas LPGA Classics.
Pure Silk and PGA Tour sponsor Barbasol are both owned by parent company Perio Inc.
The Barbasol Championship will be played at Keene Trace Golf Club near Lexington, Ky., from July 19-22 - the same week as the Open Championship.
