The Wells Fargo Championship at Quail Hollow Club brings out some of the biggest names in golf, with all of the coverage geared toward the likes of Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods.
Here are three under-the-radar golfers who are worthy of keeping tabs on.
Joaquin Niemann
It will not take long for Joaquin Niemann to become a household name on the PGA Tour. The 19-year-old broke onto the scene at the Texas Open two weeks ago, finishing sixth in his first professional event. The Chilean sensation displayed an elite approach game and prowess with the putter. Niemann was the No. 1 ranked amateur golfer in the world from May 2017 until he made the step up.
Dylan Frittelli
South African Dylan Frittelli remains a relative unknown in the PGA Tour, despite being ranked No. 53 in the world. The 27-year-old is a two-time winner on the European Tour and possesses a lethal off-the-tee game that will play well at Quail Hollow. Don't be shocked to see Frittelli's name in the mix come Sunday, as he looks to secure a PGA Tour card.
Sam Burns
Woods overshadowed Sam Burns' two top-15 finishes this season. The PGA Tour rookie was paired with Tiger in the final round of the Honda Classic, beating the legend by two shots, and finished tied for 12th at the Valspar Championship, where Woods was a runner-up. The 21-year-old won a Web.com Tour event in April and owns an all-around game, leading the Web.com Tour in greens in regulation percentage and ranking fifth in putting average.
Of the trio, Frittelli will be the first out Thursday at 8:40 a.m. ET. Niemann's and Burns' first rounds begin at 1:50 p.m. and 2:00 p.m., respectively.
