Mackenzie Hughes returned to the Tour after taking last week off, and shot a 2-under-par 70 at Torrey Pines' North Course.
Hughes began his round with a bogey, but added birdies at both par-5s to make the turn at 35. The Dundas, Ontario native added another birdie at No. 10, but gave it back at the par-3 12th.
The two-time Canadian Amateur champion would rebound with four straight pars and a birdie at the par-5 17th to get back to 2-under, where he would finish.
