Canada's Warner sets new Olympic record in dominating decathlon performance 🥇
Canada's Damian Warner won the gold medal in men's decathlon Thursday in Tokyo, capping a dominant two-day performance in extremely difficult conditions.
He finished with 9,018 points in the event, a new Olympic record. Warner's only the fourth man in history to hit 9,000 points, and the first to do so at the Olympics. The 31-year-old reached the pinnacle of his sport in Tokyo, despite the brutal heat, after winning bronze in Rio in 2016.
