Report: Beal enters health and safety protocols, return status unknown
Washington Wizards star Bradley Beal has entered health and safety protocols at Team USA camp in Las Vegas and his return-to-play status is uncertain, The Athletic's Shams Charania and Joe Vardon report.
It's possible the American may not be able to attend the Tokyo Games, a source tells The Associated Press' Tim Reynolds. USA Basketball would be forced to find a replacement player for Beal prior to leaving for Tokyo if he can't participate.
Beal's test results in the coming days will likely determine whether the All-Star travels to Tokyo, Reynolds reports.
He's averaging 10.3 points through three exhibition appearances with Team USA prior to the Olympics. The 28-year-old finished second in the NBA's scoring race after averaging 31.3 points per game across 60 appearances this season.
