The breakout star of Canada's Olympic team will lead the nation out of Brazil on Sunday evening.
Penny Oleksiak, the 16-year-old swimmer who came out of nowhere to capture Canadian hearts with her stunning performances in the pool, was named the country's flag bearer for the Rio 2016 closing ceremony.

Oleksiak heads home as the most decorated Canadian of these Olympics, leaving Brazil with one gold, one silver, and two bronze medals. The teenager's triumph in the 100m freestyle - in which she tied American Simone Manuel for top spot on the podium - was Canada's first gold in Rio, and first in the pool since Mark Tewksbury in 1992.
That victory also gave Oleksiak her fourth medal of the games, setting a new national record for a single summer Olympics.
She beat out sprinting phenom Andre De Grasse for the honor of being the country's flag bearer.
The festivities begin Sunday at 7:00 p.m. ET.
